Dr. Lothar Steeb's, also called "Mr Medium" secretly, passion for cell culture & media development turned him into a coriphae in his field.
Lothar has more than 30 years experience in the field of cell culture research and media development. He earned his Dr. at the DKFZ (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum) in Heidelberg. Since that time when he isolated and cultivated keratinocytes and endothelial cells he started to love primary cell culture. His profession and hobby is to generate best culture conditions and tools for all primary cells.
Today he leads the F&E and production departments at PELOBiotech and is also responsible for numerous research projects with our academic partners. Excellent growing and excellent working culture systems are his favorite.
We would like to share with you the specialist knowledge of our CSO Lothar Steeb who is passionate about endothelial cells.
Science should be future-oriented and conscious
During the last decades more and more important advances showed the big role of endothelial cells.
First experiments with endothelial cells were done in the 60s and a first growing culture was established between 1963 and 1971 by Jaffe and Nachman. Endothelial cells find their big use in: Inflammatory disease, Cancer and Transplantations.
The endothelial cells also have a big influence in many other fields. For example: Endothelial Cells as a Barrier (BBB), Supporting System for Tumor growth, Cornea Transplantation, Adiposis/Diabetes or Liver research, Keratinocyte cell culture and more and more the construction of micro-organoids.
We offer you the option to replace the classic standards for good reason.
Like the role of endothelial cells is growing we also want good growth for our cell cultures. That is why we are working on continuous improvement.
